December Update

Hello all!  I hope this finds everyone enjoying the Christmas holiday.  A lot has happened in the last few weeks, so here is my attempt at an update.  First, in early December my college roommate and dear, dear friend Ashley came for a visit.  It was her first chance to meet Jonathan and we were so thrilled that she came.  She was a huge help while she was in town.  She did the dishes, laundry, ironing, and many organizational projects around the house for us.  She even willingly sat in the car with Jonathan so I could get some Christmas shopping done.  It was a huge blessing to have her with us.  Thanks Ashley!

While Ashley was in town she took some Christmas pictures of Jonathan, Andy and I.  Here is one of my favorites.

Here are a few favorite pictures of Jonathan.

Unfortunately our family has more sad news.  Over a week ago Andy's paternal grandfather, Papaw Donald, passed away.  Papaw was known as "Train Man" for his career as a train conductor.  Sadly, Jonathan and I were not able to make it to Mississippi for the funeral, but Andy was there to celebrate papaw's life.  Here is a picture from a couple of years ago with Mamaw Connie and Papaw Donald and a picture of Papaw and most of the men in his family at the time.  Papaw will be greatly missed.

While Andy was in Mississippi I headed to Amarillo to spend a few days with my parents.  Here is Jonathan meeting Grandpa for the first time.  Jonathan gave Grandpa a big smile right away.

While we were in Amarillo Jonathan turned two months old.  This white crib that Jonathan is sitting in is famous in my family.  Every baby on the King side of the family has slept at least one night in this crib.  It gets passed from family to family.

I can't believe that Jonathan is two months old.  He smiles often now and has even giggled a couple of times.  He cooes and loves looking at others' faces.  He weighs more than eleven pounds and outgrew his newborn clothes four weeks ago.  He holds his head up very well has a very strong neck.  He likes to take a bath in the baby tub and loves to sit in his bouncy seat.  He occasionally sleeps for 5 or 6 hours but usually sleeps 3 to 4 hours at a time getting up at least twice a night.   His favorite sleeping position is still on Mommy or Daddy's chest.  He also loves sleeping in bed for the final hour or so every morning with Mommy, even though Daddy wishes that we didn't do this.

On the 17th Jonathan and I headed to Oklahoma with my parents for King Christmas (the annual reunion of my mother's family -- she was one of eleven brothers and sisters!).  Here we are in the hotel:

Mama's birthday was the 18th so here she is with her cake:

This is Melissa and I with our cousin Mary:

All of the grandkids (not everyone can make it every year . . . . ).  Since Jonathan can't sit up by himself I got to be in the picture as well:

The three new babies this year, Loran, Jonathan and Kassidy.  Jonathan was clearly not very happy and done for the day:

We are now in Oklahoma with Andy's family and head to see my family soon, so stay tuned.

Merry Christmas, friends and family!

Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving with Andy's family.  We had a last minute change in plans as we were supposed to have Andy's family in Dayton this year.  Andy's grandfather, Papaw Chuck, took a turn for the worse, so we headed to Oklahoma.  Unfortunately, he passed away two days before we got there.  We were very sad that we were not able to see him again and that he was not able to meet Jonathan.  We were glad, however, that we were able to be there for his funeral service to celebrate his life.  Here is a picture of Andy and I with Papaw last Christmas and a picture of Mamaw and Papaw together.  Papaw will be greatly missed.

This is Adam and Jack, our nephews.  Don't they look adorable in their jackets?

Here are a few other fun pictures from our time in Oklahoma.

While we were in town we took Jonathan to meet my Aunt Janice.  Jonathan wants Aunt Janice to know that she should come and see us in Amarillo over Christmas!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We are full of thanks this year!
